SPOMENIK IVANU MIHALJEVIĆU - BARAKU
Kip u spomen na Ivana Mihaljevića Baraka (1950., Oštarije – 2021., Zagreb) bit će otkriven i blagoslovljen u Oštarijama 14. kolovoza u 17 sati, uoči župne svetkovine Uznesenja Blažene Djevice Marije – Gospe od Čudesa.
Spomenik će blagosloviti prof. dr. o. Ivan Šestak, dekan Fakulteta filozofije i religijskih znanosti. Na svečanosti će nastupiti i pjevati crkvene pučke pjesme KUD Stenjevec iz Zagreba, KUD Klek iz Ogulina, KUD Sv. Juraj iz Zagorja Ogulinskog i KUD Tounjčica iz Tounja.
Ivan Mihaljević Barak bio je čuvar i promicatelj narodne baštine, hodočasnik, pjesnik, pisac i pučki pjevač. Barak je govorio starim narodnim jezikom, oštarskom čakavicom svojih predaka, pisao je pučku poeziju, poslovice, domoljubne pjesme, putopisne članke i članke povijesnog sadržaja. Posjećivao je hrvatske autohtone zajednice u iseljeništvu i s njima razmjenjivao hrvatsku tradicijsku kulturu. Tako je u Traunsdorfu (Gradišće) pronašao crkvenu pučku pjesmu Divo Majko, koju su iseljenici ponijeli sa sobom prije 500 godina u novu postojbinu iz Hrvatske gdje se nakon što ju je Ivan vratio u svoj kraj danas ponovno pjeva.
Zato je na spomenik uklesana kitica pjesme Divo Majko:
Divo Majko naš dika,
Budi s nama sve do vika.
Moli sina za sve nas,
Isprosi nam duši spas.
Kip (pola figure) izradio je akademski kipar Tomislav Kršnjavi.
Spomenik podižu prijatelji Ivana Mihaljevića Baraka: Ivica Mihaljević, Anton Božičević i Nikola Gračanin uz potporu hrvatskoga naroda u domovini i iseljeništvu.
